The week long competition that will climax on Saturday is being played on Clay Court at the Tennis Club de l'Avenir Sportif de la Marsa- Tunis.

Egyptian Ahmed EL Karmoty beat Troy Zziwa 6-0 6-0 round of 32 while Trevor Kazibwe went down 6-1 6-2 to the home side Ahmed Hasairi.

Zziwa (CAT Rank 108) and Kazibwe (CAT Rank 73) qualified for the final draw of 32 as the best Under 14 players in Africa at the ITF/CAT under 14 qualifiers held in Nairobi in May under Edward Odockcen.

Besides picking up international ranking points in that competition, the two teenagers could have an opportunity to be selected by different experts and scouts to improve on their careers.

Ugandan players have been able to take part in international competitions after Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) was readmitted by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) after clearing debt of $22,500 (sh84.6m) and $3000 (sh11m) respectively.
