YMCA coach new Duncan Bwabye believes that they have what it takes to bring down St. Lawrence in the quarterfinal first leg of the Pepsi University Football League Friday at Kavule along Masaka road.

"Last year, we lost narrowly to St. Lawrence. Although we lost at home by one goal, we showed great character to score two goals away at their home ground. Unfortunately, we lost concentration in the last minutes of the game and conceded," said Bwabye.

"This year is going to be a continuation of that game and I know that this time around, luck will not play a factor," Bwabye added.

The tie is a repeat of last year's quarterfinal which saw St. Lawrence edge YMCA 3-2 on aggregate to progress to the semi-finals.

However, St Lawrence coach, Davis Ssozi said his side is ready for the encounter.

"Last year we narrowly beat YMCA, so we have to be alert at the back as the YMCA is very quick and dangerous on the counter," Ssozi said.

"But we showed great character to still fight and score in the dying minutes of the game and I believe in this tie that is what is going to count. The team that shows great character is the one that is going to win".

Kyambogo University is the defending champions having won the trophy last season unbeaten.
