Young talents showcase African art themes

Sep 04, 2019

The exhibition came out in the fusion of various art forms exhibited, including Rap, Acapella, Spoken Word, Fashion, Live band music, and dance.

The latest edition of the Club Evoke Night sparked youth to think about weaving African culture in the modern lifestyle that is so influenced by western cultures. Dubbed ‘Evoke African Rebellion', the event happening at The Square in Industrial area, Kampala on Friday was a showcase of African themes in performance art.

The exhibition came out in the fusion of various art forms exhibited, including Rap, Acapella, Spoken Word, Fashion, Live band music, and dance. Although the music played and performed at the show was by mainly African contemporary artists, it was the fashion that stood out.

Fashion designers showcased fully African print in all their designs. The showcase session was a thrill for fashion enthusiasts, as in the place of cut-walking, models used hoverboards on the runway.

As the norm, the night attracted mostly uptown youth, majorly from universities around town. They were caught in a state of bliss night as they enjoyed electrifying acts from their contemporaries. For performers like Elly Songs, The Ashers and Evoke Dancers, it was a time to register new fans as they unleashed their ingenuity on stage. This came after editions in Jinja and Masaka.
