Hundreds mourn murdered social worker Nagirinya

Ssentamu called upon the authorities to ensure that the assailants who orchestrated the gruesome murder are apprehended.

Relatives and friends turned up in big numbers at St. Peter's Parish Church, Nsambya, to attend a requiem mass for the fallen social worker, Maria Nagirinya. The mass was led by Rev. Pius Male Ssentamu.

After the mass, Maria's body was laid to rest at her ancestral burial grounds at Kibuye, a city suburb in Makindye Division, while her driver, Ronald Kitayimbwa, was laid to rest in Kalubanda village, Miramba Parish, in Kibinge Sub County, in Bukomansimbi, district.

 At the time of her death, Maria was an Assistant Project Manager in charge of Water and Sanitation at Community Integrated 

 
Development Initiative (CIDI), a local NGO. She was kidnapped from her home in Lungujja community zone, Rubaga Municipality, and her body was recovered in Nakitutuli village in Nama sub-county, Mukono district, along Mukono Kayunga road on Thursday.

She attended Towers Nursery School, Namagunga Primary Boarding School, St. Joseph's School-Nsambya (for 'O'Level), Kings College Buddo (For 'A' 'level) and later joined 
 
Makerere University. In 2013, she completed her first degree, and in 2015 she finished the second one.

  

She got married to Edgar Gateni, a businessman based in Dubai, in August 2018, and died on August,29,2019.
 
Her husband said the deceased was also carrying her six months fetus.
