TWINS FESTIVAL

WAKISO - Nalongo Ruth Esther Nalwoga, a resident of Nabweru, Wakiso district says after giving birth to two children, it took her seven years to conceive again.

However, despite it all, she got pregnant and gave birth to a boy who unfortunately passed on after four days.

"It felt like the whole world was crumbling down on me. I had waited for seven years and when I finally got him, he left me before I knew it," she recollects.

Nalwonga says it was a trying moment because she did not only loss a baby but her job too.

Twins news

After six months, she conceived again. When the pregnancy was one and a half months she started early antenatal visits due to severe abdominal pain she often felt.
During her antenatal visits, she did a scan test that detected two embryos in her womb.

Nalwonga explains that she did not believe it because never did she or her husband think of having twins.

"To ascertain the news, I did more eight scan tests in different places but still I did not believe until the pregnancy was five months,' she says.

She adds that she came to terms with the news and blessed God for granting her another chance to be a mother, more so of twins," she explains.

Nalwonga says the journey was not easy because her tammy was very big that she found it hard to do most of the things but her family was supportive.

Giving birth to twins

At eight months and seven weeks, Nalwonga gave birth to Babyire Ayannh Nakimuri and Nakato Adriella Nantenza.

She says her girls were put in an incubator and on oxygen for three nights and days before being discharged. But they continued going to the hospital for check-up for three months.

"I had earlier lost my job but the twins came with blessings. I got another job and signed the contract the day before I gave birth," she states.

Raising the twins

Despite the fact that she had already raised two children before, Nalwoga says raising the twins has been a different experience.

However, she says she has a supportive team; her family has truly played a part in raising the girls.

The twins are currently two years and half years.
