Parliament staff donate to mother of premature triplets

KAYUNGA - The story of Jane Aduba a mother of triplets is an emotional one if she narrates it to you. Oduba is 19 years old and she has lived with her maternal aunt Rose Akech since she was 3 years old in Seeta-Nyiize village in Kangulumira sub-county, Kayunga district.

When Aduba turned 17 years, she left Kayunga for Malaba in pursuit of a job in order to improve her life. However, her fate changed drastically after she met Rollin Otian who impregnated her and abandoned her.

Aduba who only got support from her aunty managed to give birth on March, 21 to three premature triplets who are now five months old.

Due to lack of support, Aduba and her aunt Akech ran to New Vision offices in Jinja asking for assistance from well-wishers. New Vision in her role as a watchdog published a story on August 9, 2019, about Oduba and her plight.

Aduba's life and that of the kids have since started changing after good Samaritans offered to give some support to her and her kids.

The latest good Samaritans to offer support to Aduba and her babies are the staff of the Parliament of Uganda.

The Parliament staff who got touched by her story arranged and visited her yesterday at her aunt's home in Kayunga to donate some domestic goods and money.

The team that was championed by staff who were twins and parents to twins donated domestic goods and sh500,000 in cash.

The team was led by a senior information officer Charles Bukuwa who said they were going to open up an account for her in order to keep supporting her and her babies.

 "We promise to follow up this, with even more support in the future so that these babies can grow and become wonderful citizens of this country," Bukuwa said

Some of the things Aduba got included a mattress, suitcase, two boxes of milk, detergent, diapers, soap, cooking oil and many more others.

Bukuwa appreciated New Vision for publishing the touching story of Aduba adding that they were happy to partner with the New Vision in the coming twins festival happening on August 25, 2019.

Akech Aduba's aunt's tears of joy expressed clearly what she felt after the parliament staff handed over the things they had brought for them.

"She lost her parents when she was still very little and have tried my best to take care of her to this age," mumbled Akech

She revealed that their hope had completely been shuttered since they were unable to afford basic needs for the babies.

Akech said she was exceedingly happy for the assistance that was given to them by parliament staff.
