Eight arrested over murder of Kisoro lawyer

They have been remanded to Kisoro prison and will reappear in court on September 4, 2019, according to Kigezi Police Regional Police spokesperson Elly Maate.

Eight people suspected to have been involved in the murder of Isaac Sendegeya, a prominent lawyer in Kisoro Wednesday appeared before the Grade One magistrate in Kisoro, Raphael Vuen.

They include Munyaneza  Charles a.k.a Seruhasha Saddam, Ndagizimana  Claude, Mfitundinda  Steven, Nyiramajambere Scola, Mvano a. k. a Vianny Issah,  Hagumakwiha Assuman, Hadija Niyijena and Mutesi Eliminate.

They have been remanded to Kisoro prison and will reappear in court on September 4, 2019, according to Kigezi Police Regional Police spokesperson Elly Maate.

 

Sendgeya was shot on Sunday ( July 21) as he entered his home in Kisoro Municipality at around 01:00 am. Since then, several people including businessmen, politicians have condemned increased cases of gun violence, attributing it to the presence of illegal guns in communities.

According to Maate, Charles Munyaneza presented himself to Mbarara police station after getting information from the media that he was being suspected to have killed Sendegeya. The Mbarara police took him to Kisoro police station for interrogation where he confessed to killing the lawyer.

 
Maate says Ndagizimana also admits taking part in the murder. According to Maate, Ndagizimana further alleges that one Scola Nyiramajambere, a resident of Bunagana is the one who allegedly hired the killers.
