KAMPALA - The National Drug Authority (NDA) has appointed David Nahamya as the Secretary to the Authority.
Nahamya, a former director of inspectorate and enforcement has served the drugs' body since April 2001.
A pharmacist by profession, his appointment comes after the Court of Appeal ordered the former executive Secretary, Donna Asiimwe Kusemererwa to vacate office last year.
The order followed a 2017 ruling by the High Court that the appointment of Donna Asiimwe Kusemererwa as the executive director of National Drug Authority (NDA) in January 2016 was "unlawful, unjustifiable, null and void"
Speaking to New Vision, Medard Bitekyerezo, the NDA board chairperson, confirmed that after acting as the secretary to the Authority for 6 months, the board carried out interviews and he was the best.
"The board conducted interviews and Nahamya was the best, he is very experienced in drug regulation and a pro-people manager but on top of all this, he is learned and team player," said Bitekyerezo.
