The statement also says there are no people under monitoring, which means the spread of Ebola has been effectively controlled by the country’s response mechanism.

The Ministry of Health has announced that a mandatory 21 days of monitoring anybody who gets in contact with an Ebola patient has ended.

According to a statement signed by Health minister Ruth Aceng and World Health Organisation country representative Dr. Yonas Tegen Woldemariam, there is no new Ebola case in Kasese or any other part of Uganda.

The statement also says there are no people under monitoring, which means the spread of Ebola has been effectively controlled by the country's response mechanism.

According to the international health regulations, the movement of people between countries is not restricted even in times of disease outbreaks. Therefore, according to the health ministry, Uganda is safe to travel to and within the country.

However, different measures have been put in place to ensure there is no outbreak. Measures such as screening all travelers from DR Congo, a standby ambulance at Entebbe International Airport and use of protective gear by health workers are in place.

The statement adds that since there are still many cases of the disease in Congo, the country remains on high alert.
