Hana's return to boost schools rugby

The international school stopped taking part in all schools rugby competition in 2015

Hanna Mixed are definitely back in the schools rugby circuit, a move that is expected to increase the level of competition in this 7's seasons.

The international school stopped taking part in all schools rugby competition in 2015 because of the stringent policies that would have denied a good number of players a place on their team to compete. This fuelled a lot of age and eligibility questions.

Four year later, they have put those issues behind them and are giving schools rugby another go. They are still capable and judging by their first and second place finishes in the opening circuits of the season.

The chairman of the Uganda Schools Rugby Association Valence Bizimana welcomed their return but was cautionary about their recruitment policy.

"It's a boost to schools' rugby as it brings competition but also adds to the number of schools playing rugby. The only fear might be returning to their ways of recruiting players. They have started by getting players from Kyadondo yet it should be the other way round," Bizimana said.

Now it is up to Hana to prove the doubters wrong and inject some life into the competition.
