She Cranes hard at work

The National Netball team is hard at work dotting I's and crossing their t's as they apply finishing touches to the preparation process with the World Cup only a stone throw away.

Just like they have done ahead of past tournaments, She Cranes coaches are indulging in a tried and tested method of pitting the girls against the boys.

Yesterday at Lugogo, the women narrowly lost to the men's select side by 62-60 in a match that is largely aimed at challenging them both mentally and physically.

"Due to financial challenges, we are not able to have these friendlies we were supposed to play against Jamaica and Australia and that is quite costly," She Cranes team manager Jocelyn Ucanda said.

"We are going ahead with the preparations and instead, we are using our men's team to train because they are the most competitive team we have around and they will give us the challenge that we need," she concluded.

As usual, the girls came through this one with shining colours, even if they lost quite narrowly. They had the hunger, desire, and agility to counter the men who are physically more superior.

One of the most notable changes in today's match was the fact that goal attack Stella Oyella was deployed at centre whether these are signs of things to come we shall have to wait and see.
