Uganda Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre believes his side has the potential to go past the group stages of the Africa Nations Cup in Egypt.
"We are going to fight hard to ensure that we qualify for the knockout round. But to achieve this we have to take the opportunities that we shall create and also defend well. The team has new players that have managed to fit in with the rest. I believe we are on the right track," noted Desabre.
Desabre Tuesday named a 23 man squad for the African Nations Cup. They are Denis Onyango (18), Jamal Salim Magoola (19), Robert Odongkara (1, Murushid Jjuuko(4), Bevis Mugabi (5), Isaac Muleme (20), Hassan Wasswa Mawanda (16), Wakiro Nico Wadada (14), Joseph Benson Ochaya (2), Timothy Denis Awany (3), Godfrey Walusimbi (15), Ronald Mukiibi (12), William Kizito Luwagga (10), Khalid Aucho (8), Mike Azira (23), Faruku Miya (17), Tadeo Lwanga (6), Allan Kateregga (13), Lumala Abdu (22), Emmanuel Arnold Okwi (7), Patrick Henry Kaddu (9), Derrick Nsibambi (11) and Allan Kyambadde (21).
The AFCON finals that get underway from June 21 and July 19 will have 24 teams taking part for the first time. Uganda is placed in Group A alongside hosts Egypt, Zimbabwe, and DRC. They will face DRC on June 22 in their opening game.
