Proline eyeing CAF Confederation Cup participation

Proline FC is optimistic about taking part in the CAF Confederation Cup when the new season gets underway in August starting with the preliminary round.

"FUFA requested different requirements from us to confirm our participation and that is what we are working on. I believe we are going to provide all they need," stated the club's CEO William Bakkabulindi.

Just like Bakkabulindi, club director Mujib Kasule sounded confident that they have what it takes to compete on the continent.

"The technical team and players are excited about this and we have the potential. We are going to beef up our squad so that we will be able to compete in both the league and on the continent," noted Kasule

Proline beat Bright Stars 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time to win the Uganda Cup and that will see them represent the country in the second tier of CAF's continental competition.

Proline's next step will be to pay $10,000 to FUFA as collateral security, as a sign of assurance that they will participate in the tournament. They will also be required to avail CAF with their 30-man list of players before the end of June.                        

Proline will also be expected to provide CAF with a playing facility that is up to standard.

They currently share Lugogo with league champions KCCA FC who have already confirmed their participation in the CAF Champions League.
