Martha Kay speaks out

KAMPALA - Entertainer and social media celebrity, Martha Kay has spoken out for the first time since she got engulfed in a nudity scandal.

It is a week after nude pictures of Kay, whose real name is Martha Kemigisha, stunned local social media users.

Kemigisha used her official social media accounts to release a statement on Thursday evening. But hold your horses. The statement is about the fake social media accounts, which she says are "misleading the public."

 
In the wake of her nudity scandal, various social media accounts were opened in her name. The accounts have posted messages, giving her followers the impression that it is the embattled entertainer addressing them.

One of them is ‘Martha Kay' on Facebook, which is garnering a big following, threatening her official account - Martha Kay/Entertainer.

The statement reads in part, "It has come to our notice that a number of social media profiles and pages have been opened up in the name of Martha Kay and have gone ahead to use Martha Kay's photos and make posts and statements which are misleading to the public."

 

The statement, which is signed off as "Martha Kay Management" also clarifies her official social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

"We are working around the clock to have the Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter accounts verified," it says.
 
The statement does not mention anything regarding the entertainer's predicaments, but it notes that any communication regarding Martha Kay will be addressed through the "mentioned official social media channels at an appropriate time."

 
Who is Martha Kay

Martha Kay has over the last few years garnered a following on social media for her comic video skits.

A graduate of Mass Communication at Uganda Christian University, her social media pages also describe her as an events photographer and actor.
