Rugby 7s heads to Greater Masaka region with former champions Hima Cement Heathens and defending champions Stanbic Pirates plotting to stop rival Betway Kobs from winning the second circuit on Saturday

Kobs who beat Pirates 12-7 in the final of the Buffaloes 78s circuit at Kyadondo last Saturday are looking forward to winning the Buddu Circuit and strengthen their position on top of the table

"We know all teams are targeting us, but I think we have a strong side that will win it again," team skipper Joseph Aredo said.

Buddu circuit is the second circuit of the eight circuits to be played this year with others being Rujumba 7s in Bweyogerere, Heathens 7s at Kyadondo, Jinja 7s in Jinja, Mbale 7s, Coronation 7s, and the Edward Kitaka memorial 7s.

Kobs open their campaign against hosts Buddu Rugby Club in the morning before taking on Shell Rimula Rhinos and Jinja hippos.

However, with over 30 games lined up in a day, clubs that get to the final will play seven games a day which calls for strength and squad depth.

Defending champions Pirates will be out to win this circuit to keep their title hopes alive.

"We have worked on our weak points and we expect to win this circuit because our target is defending our title," Pirates skipper Ivan Magomu said.

The national 7s circuit is sponsored by Roke Telkom, Club Velocity Kyanja and Guinness.
