“It was a competition. Everyone fought to get the front seats in order to be noticed by Prof. Nsibambi. His classes were always full and if you are a minute late, you would not find where to sit,” she said.

KAMPALA - From Africa Hall, every afternoon, Ambassador Agnes Kalibala would race to the University main hall (Ivory Tower) to attend Prof. Apolo Nsibambi's class.

"It was a competition. Everyone fought to get the front seats in order to be noticed by Prof. Nsibambi. His classes were always full and if you are a minute late, you would not find where to sit," she said.

Kalibala is the director for the housing department at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.

She described the late as an inspiring lecturer who made sure that even the average students understood his lectures by using local issues in his examples.

"He was a very clear and caring man. He had time for each of his students. He would study each person's character during class and after calls you and gives you career guidance based on how you interact in class. He would encourage you to always seek him out in case of any challenge. It was easier to talk to him than all the other lecturers," she noted.

She said the deceased was thorough in his subjects and that he would go beyond marking papers by giving advice and guiding on how best one could have answered the questions.

Kalibala said the Prime Minister would go the extra mile to suggest a list of readings for a student to improve his essays.

"He was a perfect lecturer," she said.

Atop being a perfect lecturer, she says the Prof was a humble man who would seek guidance and knowledge from his students.
