Vinka signs deal with Sony Music

KAMPALA - It is all joy at singer Vinka's side. The sensational local female pop star has signed a contract with Sony Music Africa. The continental division is part of the international brand Sony Music Entertainment, one of the biggest and most reputable music companies in the world.

Swangz Avenue, the record label which manages the artiste, first broke the news of the deal on their Facebook page.

"Congratulations Vinka upon your exclusive recording contract with Sony. We are so proud of you and what we have achieved so far in just two years," Swangz posted on Tuesday evening.

The post continued, "We are very excited to have Sony joining hands with us to propel your brand to new heights. This new partnership is evidence that you haven't put a foot wrong since you started and we are committed to even do more with this new development."

Vinka has had a good two-year run of dominating local airwaves since her breakthrough hits, Malaika and Overdose in 2017. Her fan base continues to grow both at home and abroad.

For her rising love among the diaspora community, she is one of the performers lined up for the much-anticipated UNAA Causes' Uganda Festival in New York due late August this year. 

Sony Music Entertainment, known as Sony Music, is an American global music conglomerate. It has worked with famous artistes like the late Elvis Presley and Prince, and currently managing artists like Camila Cabello, Future and Miley Cyrus.

Vinka, real names Veronica Luggya, later also took to social media to express her joy. "I am glad to announce that I have joined the Sony Music Africa Family!!," the Ketch Up hitmaker wrote on Facebook.  

"Thanks to my family @swangzavenue_official for believing in me since Day One and everyone else that has ever believed in me and loved Vinka!!... Let's take sweet Uganda to the world (sic)," the post read.

Well, Vinka becomes the second Ugandan artiste to enter into a contract with Sony, the first one being female rapper, Keko.
