Nalubaale rowing club in top three finish at the dragon boat festival

The youthful team scored an average of 43:15 seconds in the standard 200 meters race to emerge champions.

China's Hanjiang University was unstoppable and emerged winners of the third edition of the annual dragon boat race in Uganda on Sunday.
 
The youthful team scored an average of 43:15 seconds in the standard 200 meters race to emerge champions.
 
Changsha city, the other Chinese team in the race came second in 44:74 seconds. Ugandan team Nalubale Rowing Club from Garuga came third in 46.49 seconds.
 
Last year's winners Uganda's Twekembe (Fast forwarding and Shipping Company Ltd) rowing club from Mayuge could only manage a fourth-place finish.

Each team had 22 Rowers.  Seven teams, five from Uganda and two from China faced off at Forest Park Resort in Buloba, Wakiso district on Sunday, May 26, 2019.
 
The Ugandan teams were all handed sh1 million for participation in the dragon boat race. While the top three teams received medals, certificates of participation and trophies.
 
Vice President Edward Ssekandi who graced the competition tasked the National Council of Sports to support the Uganda Dragon Boat Federation to develop a professional national team to represent Uganda in International Dragon Boat races.
