BISHOP WEALTH CREATION HOIDERA
The Bishop of Hoima Diocese, Vincent Kirabo Amooti, has told Christians hailing from the diocese, but living in Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono and other areas to engage in wealth creation.
Kirabo concluded his annual pastoral visit to the Christians who live outside the Diocese, with a mass at Gayaza in Wakiso district on Sunday. He addressed families and members of Hoima Diocese External Residents Association (HOIDERA) on spiritual growth and wealth creation. The mass was graced by over 500 members of HOIDERA.
The bishop had earlier told the youth during a youth conference at Makerere University to uphold values of integrity. He also guided them on wealth creation by urging them to engage in coffee production, more especially back home.
He disclosed that Hoima Diocese has partnered with the Uganda Coffee Development Authority to promote commercial coffee growing.
"The Uganda Coffee Development Authority has given seedlings. I was even the first to plant the coffee," Kirabo said. "The diocese has organized sensitization meetings by UCDA to prepare the leaders before the distribution of seedlings could start," he added.
The president of HOIDERA, Taddeo Atuhura, said they had bought land in Gayaza, Wakiso where they will build a church and set other projects.
He said a fundraising drive was ongoing to realize funds to support the planned projects.
The bishop pledged the Kingdom continued support to the association through regular visits among other direct interventions.
The Bishop said he was happy about the spiritual growth of the Christians. "I am happy that you are teaching the children the religious values and for keeping them in church. I have noticed great change since I was here for the pastoral visit last year," he added.
HOIDERA members and Christians from Hoima Diocese living in Kampala and other areas hold prayers in Gayaza every first Sunday of the month.
