UBC, Uganda Post board members named

Uganda Broadcasting Corporation is the public broadcaster of Uganda

 

Cabinet approved the appointment of members to the boards of directors of Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) and Uganda Post Limited (UPL).

Uganda Media Centre executive director Ofwono Opondo said the members will serve three-year terms.

UBC board is chaired by New Vision's founding chief executive officer James Rwehabura Tumusiime. Members include former Electoral Commission commissioner Hadijja Nassanga Miiro, Mike Okua, Richard Barungi, former MP Tezira Jamwa, Maj. Christopher Oballa Magezi, Sarah Namumbya and the managing director Winston Agaba.

UBC is the public broadcaster of Uganda. It was founded as a result of the "Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Act, 2004", which merged the operations of Uganda Television and Radio Uganda.

Uganda Post Limited's board is chaired by former MP Suleiman Balyejusa Kirunda. Other members are Dorothy Telopecho Butuli, Hussein Kashillingi Rugaba a former legal assistant to the President, Richard Mwesiga, Herbert Kiggundu Mugerwa, Lillian Aber and the sitting managing director.

Posta Uganda is the most extensive provider of postal services in Uganda, having an extensive network of postal delivery outlets down to sub-country level.

Mail is delivered to over 70,000 post boxes all over the country, and through its 300 post offices offers a host of auxiliary services.
