A rapidly changing environment is posing a serious challenge around the world to educators to generate graduates with the capabilities to be flexible and adoptable to changing situations.

The Chairman Governing Council at Sai Pali Institute of Technology and Management Emurwon Olupot in Kampala, stated that Uganda and other world economies are today highly dependent on Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Therefore "Little or no investment in growth of ICT education puts both country and organizations at risk of under achievement," Dr. Olupot said.

A total of 152 students graduated from the Sai Pali Institute of Technology and Management in different ICT and management disciplines up from 50 graduates at the inaugural graduation last year.

"There is continuous need to improve ICT education and acquire new skills. What worked yesterday may not work today…," Dr Olupot said.

 Keeping up with technology advancements

According to Silas Ngabirano who represented the Minister of State for ICT Idah Nantaba graduates must be aware of the dynamics and exceedingly competitive world of work.

"It demands that you constantly upgrade your skills with newest most advanced technology to respond adequately to ever evolving challenges," he said.

Dr. Olupot said graduates will need to demonstrate a tendency to challenge the existing ideas and practices continuously, in order to provide cutting edge solutions to existing problems.

The graduates were awarded certificates and diplomas in the field of Software Engineering, Computer Applications, Hardware and Networking, Graphic Design, Mobile Application development, Information Security Systems, Animation and Web base Applications.
