The national women handball team qualified for the All Africa Games due August in Rabat, Morocco without breaking a sweat following a walkover against Kenya at Namboole on Monday.
The walkover left handball fans that had turned up for the return leg at Namboole disappointed after the game was called off.
Fans turned out in droves to cheer on Uganda following a tightly contested first leg on Saturday in which Uganda won 28-24.
Kenya failed to take part in the return leg after it emerged that they had not paid their participation fees.
According to Willy Mayanja, the Uganda Handball Federation treasurer, Kenya failed to pay €500 (sh2.1m) participation fee and €5700 (sh24m) upkeep for the team for five days which prompted the continental body's representative Noel Assemian to call the game off.
"The match commissar from the Confederation of Africa Handball called off the game because Kenya had not paid and we were awarded a walkover," Mayanja stated.
"This means that we have qualified for the All Africa Games and we have to start preparing for the games," Mayanja added.
He explained that as a federation, they need to schedule friendly games with other countries so as to gain exposure but there are limited funds.
