ENTEBBE - As they geared up for the much-anticipated jazz concert slated for April 30 featuring Angelique Kidjo, Isaiah Katumwa together with saxophonists Chris Lang and Darren Rahn decided to give back to young talented musicians and instrumentalists.
In luck where the music students of the African Institute of Music located in Lubowa along Entebbe road. On Friday, the school was visited by the three jazz maestros and being addicts of music, their excitement could not be withheld.
Seated comfortably in a huge hall at the institute, the students were first of all treated to a breathtaking performance by Katumwa, Lang, and Rahn.
After the performance, Katumwa advised the younger passionate musicians on how to make it in business. Darren Rahn also shared his story which was really emotional.
"The beginning will never be rosy for you just like it wasn't for me. However, you have to be resilient and focused. You will eventually make it as a perfect musician or instrument player," Katumwa said.
After the speeches, it was time to give out the instruments to talented instrumentalists. The criteria were very simple. One only needed to be a professional instrumentalist and that was it. Depending on the instrument one played, they had to pick it up and play it and if they felt comfortable then they were in luck.
