Par-six hole mesmerizes Ugandan golfers in Thailand

 

 

They all came back with fond memories and interesting tales from the trip that they won, after coming top in the inaugural edition of the Tusker series championship that run for 17 weeks, at six golf clubs across the country.

 

Paul Ndyaguma and Peace Kabasweka who lead the series with 237 and 196 points respectively, Collins Bulafu/Geoffrey Orach and the team of Dorothy Nabirye/Sharon Kawanyi toured Thailand and played golf there for four days.

 

What mesmerized all was the two, par-6 holes at the St. Andrews 2000 Golf Club which they played last. Before they had tested the oldest course in Thailand; the Siam Country Club and also enjoyed a round at the Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club.

 "The experience was incredible. I enjoyed most playing on St. Andrew's Golf Course, the mountain course which has 2-par 6's. It was amazing, long and beautiful course, and it's the one I played well at. Siam Country and Phoenix Golf Clubs were also very good courses with very smart lady caddies," Kabasweka said.

 

"It was a memorable experience for me. I am very grateful to Tusker for the sponsorship and the team we traveled with for the support and care. The fully-paid trip was marvelous,"Kabasweka stated.

 

Apart from the golf, the Ugandan tourists enjoyed Songkran which is the celebration of the traditional New Year in Thailand; a Buddhist holiday and the world' biggest water guns fight on the streets.

 "The most interesting one for me was St. Andrews 2000 because it had never come to my mind that there is a course with a par-6; St. Andrews has two of them which made it more interesting for me. But all the three courses have their own interesting features and you get different experiences but for me St. Andrews stood out," Bulafu stated.

 

For Paul Ndyaguma, St. Andrews was the most challenging while Siam Country Club was the most beautiful.

 

The winners were joined on the tour by John Katto, Francis Kirabira, Geoffrey Orach, and Promo Golf's John Mwalimu and Lyn Eyo.
