Vision Group sub-editors in spontaneous Easter musical performance

Everybody was taken by surprise when the sub-editors, who are always known to be extremely busy, not even ready to entertain any conversation, started singing Robert Lowry's Up from the Grave He Arose (UM Hymnal, No 322),

KAMPALA - It is not rare to hear Vision Group sub-editors, reporters and sometimes editors, break into song.  However, the song they sing is always predictable. It is the Happy Birthday song, which they croon in celebration of the birth anniversary of a colleague.

However, on Good Friday, the musical business in the newsroom was not as usual. Everybody was taken by surprise when the sub-editors, who are always known to be extremely busy, not even ready to entertain any conversation, started singing Robert Lowry's Up from the Grave He Arose (UM Hymnal, No 322), one of the most popular and highly stunning traditional Easter hymns.

It is not clear who initiated the idea. It is not also clear whether they first rehearsed. But the fact that nobody could dispute was their able execution of the song's beautiful melody.

They sang it with joy and dynamism. The happiness and hope that Easter brings was also visible on their faces. It was also interesting to see the Moslem colleagues singing together with their Christian brethren.

The spontaneous 'Easter Concert' rose in magnitude when the Editor in Chief of Vision Group, Barbara Kaija joined the crooning sub-editors in the Easter musical action.
