Uganda Cubs chances of reaching the World Cup were shattered following their 1-1 draw with Nigeria Saturday at Chamazi stadium, Dar es Salaam.
Uganda needed to beat Group A leaders Nigeria to progress to the 2019 World Cup and also qualify for the semifinals of the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
Angola who defeated hosts Tanzania 4-2 in other game in Group A moved to second position with six points thus qualifying with Nigeria. Uganda remained third with four points while Tanzania bottom with no point.
Alou John Kokas gave Uganda the lead before Ibrahim Jabaar levelled matters for Nigeria.
In Group B,Cameroon who already qualified after accumulating six points will take on bottom side Senegal on Sunday.
Guinea who are second with three points will play third placed Morocco in other game.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil as Africa representatives.
Uganda qualified for the finals of the Nations Cup after defeating Ethiopia 3-1 to emerge champions of CECAFA region.
Tanzania is the second East African nation to host the CAF Africa U-17 Championship after Rwanda in 2011.
