Over 1000 Christians participate in the Way of the Cross in Iganga

The priest Rev. Father Alex Okello of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church parish cautioned Christians to avoid lavish lifestyle during the Easter holidays sayings it is against the biblical teachings.

IGANGA - The Christians who were singing hymns first gathered at St Jude Church located in Bugumba parish, before moving to Buligo Catholic Church, St. Francis, St Peter Claver and later Iganga Technical Institute where main prayers were held.

The priest Rev. Father Alex Okello of  St. Peter Claver Catholic Church parish cautioned Christians to avoid lavish lifestyle during the Easter holidays sayings it is against the biblical teachings.

He also urged Christians to avoid risky sexual behaviours during the festive season but instead utilise the time to repent and visiting the sick.

Peter Kagoda, a Christian said he has always longed to walk on Good Friday in remembrance of Jesus Christ's crucifixion and death.

"Even if it meant walking for 100 kilometres, I would do it for the love of our savoiur Jesus Christ," he said.

Many elderly and sickly Christians were seen walking with difficulty under the scorching sun along the main high way in Iganga.
