Students showcase talent at MUBS Hospitality Day

Michelle Kiconco, a lecturer at the hospitality management department, said the university uses Hospitality Day to mark and access the performance of students and find out whether a student has employable skills that are required by employers.
KAMPALA- It was hands on skills during the 10th Hospitality Day of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) which was aimed at accessing the performance of students.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice-Chairman in Charge of the Easter Region, Capt. Mike Mukula' applauded (MUBS) for organizing such activities that are centred on identifying skilled, confident and talented students.

‘'It is through such events that universities can market their students and many employers sometimes spot the best students and offer them jobs'' Mukula said
Different activities were showcased such as; Fashion, boxing, franchising skills, catering skills, and others.
Michelle Kiconco, a lecturer at the hospitality management department, said the university uses Hospitality Day to mark and access the performance of students and find out whether a student has employable skills that are required by employers.
"This is purely a practical event with activities that give students chance to interface with the public and different organizations hence opportunity for job placement after school" Kiconco said.
Sophie Nassaka a student said that it is through this Hospitality Day that students get in touch with big organizations.
"Almost 5% of the students get employed from these activities, since the employees identify them through these activities," Nassaka said
