Pope appoints new bishop for Masaka

Bishop-elect Jjumba will replace Bishop now emeritus, John Baptist Kaggwa. Jjumba was born on August 2, 1962 and ordained priest on June 20, 1992.

MASAKA - Pope Francis has appointed Msgr. Serverus Jjumba as the new bishop of Masaka Diocese.

Bishop-elect Jjumba will replace Bishop now emeritus, John Baptist Kaggwa. Jjumba was born on August 2, 1962 and ordained priest on June 20, 1992. 

He served as a curate in Mpambire Parish (1992-1993), teacher and bursar of Bukalasa Minor Seminary (1993 - 2000) and Diocesan Treasurer (2000 - 2014).

He was appointed Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia on April 15, 2014.

The Pope said Bishop Kaggwa will remain as the apostolic administrator of Masaka diocese until the day of the canonical possession by the new Bishop.

Bishop Kaggwa is a very vocal clergy known for speaking his mind and heart out.
