US Anglican Bishop warns against early marriage

“Early marriage does not allow young people to finish up with their education and there are many complications associated to it like difficulty in delivering among the girls.” The Anglican bishop said.

EARLY MARRIAGE

DOKOLO - An American Bishop from the diocese of Christ of our Hope Anglican Church in North America, Durham Steve Breedlove has asked students and young girls to desist from early marriage and first pursue education for their future.

Breelove described early marriage among students and children as one of the obstacles that hinders development.

"Early marriage does not allow young people to finish up with their education and there are many complications associated to it like difficulty in delivering among the girls." He said.

While addressing students at Dokolo Technical School in Dokolo district, Breedlove asked the students and Christians to embrace the love of God for their better future.

He asked the students to desist from the spirit of stealing, corruption and speaking lies that most people had entangled their necks in.

He said these practices cause God's wrath on man.

The host, Bishop of Lango diocese, Alfred Olwa said his main work was to coordinate the gospel and the purpose of Breedlove coming to Lango diocese and particularly in Dokolo Technical School to have a link between Lango diocese and that of North America.

However, Olwa warned youth to stop bragging, saying that people should embrace revival of good life in order to set legacy.

The Resident District Commissioner of Dokolo district, Lawrence Egole asked the school administrators and students to advocate for peace through patriotism clubs that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had initiated in all institutions.

Egole said that Uganda was a peaceful country because the ruling party, NRM,  had allowed the freedom of worship compared to the previous leaders.

However, the head teacher of Dokolo technical school, Moses Ogwal thanked the efforts of Olwa for having played a great role in linking up the school with the American diocese that has made their school to be known internationally.

He also stressed that much as the school was under the Anglican foundation, the government of Uganda through president Museveni had done a lot for the youth who are students in his school.

Ogwal said the government had constructed more dormitories, workshops and installed more equipment for students' practicals that had boosted a high enrolment of 1,091 students this year 2019.

One of the parents of students at Dokolo Technical School, Francis Ayor attributed all good things that were being realized to love, patience and togetherness.
