TB: Global Fund commits further funding for Africa

Global Fund commits extended funding to support national tuberculosis diagnostic facilities in Africa.

Global Fund has commited funding for another three years to support national tuberculosis diagnostic facilities in the East, Central and Southern Africa.

A section of officials led by Prof. Yoswa Dandisya and Prof. Moses Joloba from the Supra-National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory (SRL) Uganda, East, Central and Southern Africa (ECSA-HC), met with Global Fund officials on Saturday at Butabika Complex in Kampala.

 
They were meeting over three days for final negotiations of a new regional Global Fund grant that is hoped to support strengthening the national tuberculosis reference laboratories in 21 countries in Africa over the next three years

This will be effective July 1 this year.

 

The Supranational National Reference Laboratory is a regional centre of excellence in the provision of tuberculosis diagnostic services and training. It is the only one of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa, outside South Africa.
