Michael Kakande, the chairman of the organising committee of the University Women football League has promised a good show from teams.

"We have started a new chapter in women football.  I believe we shall manage to grow stronger. We delayed starting due to a lack of sponsors. These universities are funding their teams but in future when sponsors come on board, it will improve," Kakande said.

Kakande revealed this on Thursday at the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) offices in Mengo after the unveiling of university teams.

Uganda Christian University (UCU), Kampala University (KU), Nkumba, Makerere and Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) will take part in this year's edition. MUBS pulled out of the tournament.

Nkumba will host IUIU  in the first game of the competition.

AUUS president Peninnah Kabenge, secretary general Patrick Sebuliba, team managers, captains are some the people that attended the press conference.

The top two teams at end of the season will face off in the final that will be on the same day as that of men in November at Namboole.
