The third edition of the competition is expected to draw out carnival-like crowds in accordance with the 2,400 who were in attendance in 2018.

The Kabaka Birthday run may make all the headlines, but the Kabaka Birthday Volleyball Festival set for April 5 to 7, aims at attracting new talent.

The third edition of the competition is expected to draw out carnival-like crowds in accordance with the 2,400 who were in attendance in 2018.

Buganda Kingdom prime minister Charles Peter Mayiga while at the launch of the event at Bulange Mengo emphasised the need to always scout talent.

"Talent is only useful if it's scouted and put to good use. There are many good athletes but we do not know that they exist because they do not participate in sports just like any other activities," he explained.

The competition will see primary schools, secondary; clubs and corporates try their luck in all categories.

Some UVF clubs like the defending champions in the women's side VVC are expected to take place. KCCA will be present in a major way as they are major sponsors of the event and this tournament is also a good season opener for their women's side that recruited well.

Sport-S is the defending champions for the men while Buganda Land Board took the corporate title.
