West Ankole diocese bishop tips students

BUSHENYI - The Bishop of West Ankole Diocese Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni has told students and the young generation that much as they are concentrating on acquiring knowledge and skills, the two may not sustain them alone in life. 

"Primarily, you need wisdom. You need to be wise," the Bishop said.

Twinomujuni went on to substantiate his point, stressing that, "We have knowledgeable people who have studied to the level of Professor but some of them are not wise, a reason why you find a whole professor smoking as if he/she is not aware of the dangers of smoking."

The Bishop was on Sunday preaching to hundreds of students of Bweranyangi Girls S.S during a church service at St. Peters Cathedral Bweranyangi in Bushenyi district.

Twinomujuni said a wise person is that one who has the capacity to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong.

"You are living in a difficult world or situation, and if you cannot distinguish between good and bad; then you are doomed," the Bishop warned.

 "Be wise my girls. Shun boys and men who just come to confuse you and confuse your future" he advised.

He encouraged the girls not to disappoint their parents who are struggling to cater for their school fees.

"Don't cause tears to your parents. We have seen girls who graduate in abseentia because of sin," Twinomujuni noted.

He reminded the students how God has good plans for each of them but it is just a matter of time, fearing the Lord, shunning evil and being patient.

The Bishop cautioned teachers saying, "we have seen teachers who end up victims of bullying and it is an unacceptable." 

Twinomujuni further cautioned the students to be mindful of the ‘fake pastors'.

"How do you splash sodas on believers, having sexuality with them (believers)? and surprisingly, people are blindly following them with the excuse of searching for miracles," Twinomujuni said.

The school gave Emily Nuwatwijuka one million shillings as appreciation for scoring 20 points in Mathemetics, Economics and Geography, MEG.

The school headmistress Juliet Muzoora said despite Nuwatwijuka coming from a humble family, she managed to excel because she was always humble and committed.
