Preparations to host this year's UMEA Solidarity games at Kasawo Islamic SS are in the final stages.

This was confirmed at the launch of the games Monday at Kibuli SS.

"We are happy that they gave us the opportunity to host the games. We want to assure you that everything is set to have the games started," Kasawo SS director Hajji Qasim Kajaya

Only Muslim founded Secondary Schools under their umbrella association UMEA take part in these Solidarity Games. The UMEA games started in 1998 at Kibuli Senior Secondary School.

Kasawo Islamic was nominated to host the games during last year's event at Nkoma SS in Mbale. Thereafter, the organising committee visited the school facilities on three occasions before approving them as hosts. This won't be the first time Kasawo is hosting the games as they did the same in 2015.

Kibuli SS won the overall title at last year's edition held at Nkoma Secondary School in Mbale. They won the handball (boys and boys) and badminton (boys and girls) titles respectively.  But they were also runners up in the netball and boys' soccer categories after losing to Ngando Wamala S.S (29-30) and Bulo Parents 5-4 in penalties after goalless draw respectively.
