Lowly Proline stunned Vipers as they eliminated the favourites from the Uganda Cup to heap pressure on The Venoms coach Michael Ouma.

Ouma's future is uncertain after his side went down to FUFA Big League side Proline 2-1 on Tuesday at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo to be eliminated at the quarterfinal stage of the cup competition.

Skipper Noordin Banjo gave Proline a lead in the 24th minute before captain Taddeo Lwanga levelled matters for the visitors in the 76th minute.

Substitute Ibrahim Bonyo headed in a delicious cross from another substitute Hakim Kiwanuka in the second half of extra time with 114 minutes on the clock as Proline eked out an unlikely win to stay in the hunt for Ugandan football's premier cup competition.

Although Proline emerged victoriously, they should have won the match in normal time but they were guilty of squandering plenty of goal scoring opportunities.

Vipers who are four points behind league leaders have now seen their chances of playing continental football next season dwindle. They now have to either win the league or hope that the winner of the Uganda Cup fails to make facilitate at a continental run in case they finish second in the league. That reality is not lost on Ouma though.

"After being eliminated from Uganda Cup now we have to win the league if we are to compete on the continent next season. But this puts us under a lot of pressure since we have to win all the remaining games in the league," stated Ouma.

Proline has enjoyed a great cup run in which they've eliminated Uganda Premier League sides Onduparaka and Nyamityobora before today's heroics which has left coach Shafik Bisaso fancying their chances of winning the competition.

"All the teams in the semi-finals are good but we have stick to the way we play if we are to win the trophy. But this should not put us under pressure," noted Bisaso.

Proline joins Express, Bright Stars and Kyetume in the semi-final pool.
