Top US envoy starts visit to Uganda

Tibor Nagy will jointly address the media with the US Ambassador to Uganda

A top US envoy for Africa yesterday jetted into the country on a three-day tour that is expected to strengthen the ties between the two countries.

According to officials from the US Embassy in Kampala, during his three-day Kampala visit, Tibor Nagy, the assistant secretary of US, who oversees policy and programs in Africa, will also hold bilateral talks with President Museveni.

Nagy is today expected to address the media at Serena Hotel in Kampala on a number of issues, including the geopolitical and security ties between US and Uganda.

Nagy will jointly address the media with the US Ambassador to Uganda, Deborah Malac.

"Assistant Secretary Nagy will provide opening remarks discussing his visit to Uganda and his planned meeting (the day prior) with President Museveni, and will then open up the floor for questions. The press conference will be at the VIP Room, located at the Conference Center side of the Serena Hotel," a statement issued by the US embassy yesterday noted.
