KANUNGU- Police in Kanungu district in South Western Uganda have three men in detention over alleged murder of their biological mother aged 60.

According to the Kigezi Police Spokesperson Elly Maate, Margaret Mugisha a resident of Ibarya cell Kihanda parish Kirima sub-county, Kanungu district was allegedly murdered by strangulation on February 22, at unknown time from her house.

Speaking to New Vision via phone link, Maate said the arrested suspects are Yonah Ngorogoza, Jolly Asiimwe and one Herbert.

"They will help Police in investigations because they had a land dispute with the deceased.

On finding the door locked, Maate said the children went and informed their nephew a one Herbert being the immediate neighbour who seemed not bothered at all. He said Herbert told them to go and sleep in another house next to the one of the deceased.

According to Maate, the next day Herbert went and informed the area LC1 chairperson Jessica Tindimwebwa and when they opened the door, found her dead. He claimed she committed suicide by hanging with a rope and reported to Police.

"Police visited the scene and discovered she had signs of violence on her body. The body was taken to Kanungu Health Center IV for post-mortem which revealed she was murdered by strangulation. And immediately the children were arrested for questioning," he said.
