Nemostars fancy their chances at Africa Championships

They have to contend with sides like Al Ahly who are camping in Europe

UVF Volleyball League champions Nemostars are optimistic about improving their performance at the Africa Club Championships following their exploits in the transfer market.

"We did not have a lot of luck last year but I was happy we faced the best in Africa. We thought we would be washed but based on the result against Al Ahly, I'm proud," Nemostars coach Andrew Okapis said.

Not for the first time, Nemostars have to contend with sides like Al Ahly who are camping in Europe, well-funded unlike them who train on a murrum surface at East Kololo Primary School.

"At the moment they are held up by financial constraints what with the team needing up to 140 million in order to travel to Egypt for the Africa Club Championships and the zone five tournaments in Rwanda.

"We need support from all avenues; the state, corporate bodies and private individuals who can afford. Getting the money early makes our preparations easier reason being we are looking for funds and training so our attention is divided," he added.

Ideally, if the team could get the resources and funds early enough then they would focus on the training alone.
