Funeral service for Bishop Bamwoze at Namirembe Cathedral

Whereas Bamwoze is to be laid next to his wife, because of limited space, prayers will instead be conducted at Bugembe Stadium.

Namirembe - A funeral service was on Thursday held for the late Bishop Emeritus, Cyprian Kikuni Bamwoze, at Namirembe Cathedral in Kampala.

Born in 1934 at Nakimegere village in Kamuli district, Bamwoze has been battling cancer since 2015 and he breathed his last at the Uganda Cancer Institute in Mulago on Monday morning. He served as bishop for 27 years from 1972 to 1999.

 

According to former Kagoma legislator and a historian of Busoga issues, Prof. Dr. Frank Nabwiso, Bamwoze Busoga made several monuments during his 27 year tenure as Bishop from 1972 to 1999.


They range from promoting health, education and transforming members of the community economically.

 

 

 The first Bishop of Busoga Diocese Cyprian Kikuni Bamwoze breathed his last at the Uganda Cancer Institute Monday morning after a long battle with cancer.

 

 

 Bamwoze was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2017 and has since been in and out of hospital.
