Dave was a great friend of Africa

The cancer that claimed Dave's life was diagnosed in May 2018 by that time it was already in stage four! Within three months our Dave was gone!

My friend David Fick fondly known as Dave the author, passed on August 11th, 2018 in Kansas City.

I have just talked to Debbie his beloved wife who confirmed to me the sad news! Earlier on she  had posted a comment on my wall wondering whether I was aware of Dave's passing!

Dave was a great friend of Africa, who dedicated 18 years of his retirement, pension and savings on telling success stories of Africa through writing books.

I was privileged and honoured to be hosted several times by him and his lovely wife Debbie at their homely home in Overland Park in Kansas City.

Two of his books' covers bear my art pieces one of which he specifically commissioned while the other touched his heart the first time he set his eyes on it. He had three published books and was working on the fourth one by the time he succumbed to throat cancer.

My most memorable road trip in the US was with him and his Debbie. We drove  from Kansas city to Silverthorn in Colorado. Interesting landscape and scenery. Plus very humourous yet scaring sign posts such as 'RUNAWAY TRUCK RAMP".

On that trip some places were, flat and others quite hilly so we had to drive through the hills as we headed towards the snow capped Rocky Mountains. Four about ten miles we drove along a creek as opposed to crossing it.

Dave was a hardworking good man with a positive attitude towards life.

Please join me in praying for his wife Debbie, daughter and siblings to be granted God's grace to deal with the loss.

Glory be to God for Dave didn't live in vain! Amen.
