JINJA - Congolese striker Jean Pierre Kambale Muhindo rose highest to fire in a late winner as BUL FC beat Express FC on Sunday.

This was at the FUFA technical center in Njeru.

Both sides had defended deeply throughout the 90 minutes, with few chances created.

Charles Ssebutinde, Hamis Tibiita and Ezekiel Katende squandered goal-scoring opportunities as the game progressed.

BUL head coach Peter Onen brought on Douglas Owori in place of Deogratius Ojok and his immediate impact was felt as he injected pace in the attack.

Eventually, the hosts had the last laugh.

"We knew we had a good record against Express FC  but we had to work for it because their crop of young players wanted to prove to their new coach that they deserve to start," he said after the game.

"We now focus on two difficult fixtures - against leaders KCCA FC and SC Villa. But we must respond and play as a unit to get maximum results.

''We played and matched BUL FC well today but because of the youthful squad we have, we failed to concentrate until the last minute and we were punished for it," said Express' new coach George Ssimwogerere.
