Prison warder arrested over defilement

Police at Amolatar Central Police Station is holding a prison warder attached to Amolatar Government Prison over defilement allegations.

Emmanuel Ofwono was arrested on Monday evening over defiling a 17-year-old girl.

In 2017, Ofwono was arrested over similar allegations, was interdicted, and is stillbattling the charges in court.

The officer in charge of Amolatar Central Police Station, Mars Okello confirmed that Ofwono is in custody and a file CRB 55/2019 has been opened.

Several cases of sexual harassment have been reported at Amolatar Government Prison and a team from the region was sent to carry out investigations.

Amolatar resident district commissioner Lillian Eyal told New Vision that she has been carrying out investigations on allegations of sexual harassment of female inmates by male staff.
