KAMPALA - The Miss Uganda Tulambule trip has been put on hold after Miss World Africa Quiin Abenakyo fell ill, and is currently receiving medical attention.

Miss Uganda Foundation chief executive Brendah Nanyonjo told journalists on Sunday that Abenakyo was not well and could not endure a tour to the eastern and northern parts of the country.

The trip has been postponed until Abenakyo recovers.

Nanyonjo said Abenakyo had health issues and went to hospital Saturday. She returned Sunday morning for further treatment.

Clare Mugabi, the Uganda Tourism Board marketing manager, said Abenakyo would resume her role as Goodwill ambassador of tourism in Uganda as soon as she recovers and apologized to journalists for the inconvenience caused.

Dave Kazoora, the media manager of the trip, said Nanyonjo was also not well.

Kevin Zziwa, a director at Miss Uganda Foundation, said Abenakyo got an infection after having issues with her root canal.

He said she wanted to go on with the trip but that doctors insisted she was unfit for the excursion from Kampala to Kidepo National Park.
