KAMPALA - The trial of three people including the Executive Director of Quantum Express Logistics, Mathew Kanyamunyu is scheduled for Monday at High Court in Kampala.

Mathew Kanyamunyu, Joseph Kanyamunyu and Burundian Cynthia Munwangari are accused of killing activist, Kenneth Akena.

The trio, currently out on bail, appeared before High court judge Stephen Mubiru last week and denied the charges.

Prosecution alleges that the accused and others still at large on November 12, 2016 along Kampala-Jinja road opposite Malik car bond with malice aforethought caused the death of Akena.

Kanyamunyu is suspected to have shot Akena in the stomach over the denting of his car. Akena died a day after at Norvik Hospital, on Bombo Road in Kampala.

It is alleged that prior to his death, Akena told medics at Norvik hospital that the people who took him there were responsible for his shooting.

Meanwhile, Joseph, a businessman of Cresent Natra, faces another charge of being an accessory to the murder of Akena when he hid a pistol that Kanyamunyu allegedly used to shoot Akena.
