'Two Ugandans found burnt to death' in South Africa

SOUTH AFRICA - Two people, confirmed to be Ugandan nationals but yet to be named, have been killed in what is believed to be an arson attack in the South African province of Limpopo.

According to News24, a South African online news platform, the duo were business people, aged 30 and 33, and that their property was stolen.

Local police have since the Friday attack made one arrest following initial investigations and a manhunt for the suspect. A 24-year-old man was eventually apprehended in Rustenburg in the North West Province.

News24 quoted provincial police spokesperson Col. Moatshe Ngoepe as saying that petrol had been used for the deadly attack and that "we are still investigating the motive".

It is also understood that the two Ugandans and the suspect were business people, although Police could not immedately establish the nature of their business.

The suspect, also unnamed, is due to appear in court on Monday - at the Northam Magistrate's Court, the news channel added.

Police received reports of a house "engulfed in flames" at the Wildebeeste Laagte Farm outside Northam on Friday.

Joint efforts by police and volunteers failed to put out the fire, and when they did finally manage to break into the house, it was already too late.

A manhunt for the identified person believed to have been behind the attack ensued.

"During the arrest, the deceased's motor vehicle was recovered at a chop-shop in Rustenburg and other items which include cellphone, watch and house keys.

"The process of identifying the deceased is under way but they were confirmed to be Ugandan nationals," Police's Ngoepe was quoted as saying.
