Fitidis started the event looking for only one point to emerge champion, but ended up beating contenders Arthur Blick Jr and defending champion Ronald Ssebuguzi to win the Sprint.

The 67-year-old posted the fastest time in the first run when he posted three minutes 23.6 seconds, beating Blick who posted three minutes 24.2 seconds to finish second.

In the second run, Fitidis finished fourth behind winner Ssebuguzi, Moses Lumala and Blick who were first second and third, but when tallied, the total time lost, Fitidis was the winner of the day.

"This is a prove that the old men can still give the young men a run for their money if FMU sticks to the rules of the sport," Fitidis said.

Meanwhile, Edward Kirumira and Ritah Katono rolled in the second run but were unhurt and no fan was injured.
