I want the overall trophy, Dr. Senyonyi tells UCU team

The Games will take place from Monday to Sunday next week at University of Dodoma Tanzania, and nine Universities from Uganda will be competing in the event.

Uganda Christian University (UCU) has flagged off an 87 strong man squad to the 11th edition of East Africa University Games targeting to end Ndejje's dominance in the region.
 
The Games will take place from Monday to Sunday next week at University of Dodoma Tanzania, and nine Universities from Uganda will be competing in the event.
 
"Finishing third in the 2016 edition was good, but this time I want to welcome you back with the overall trophy," UCU vice chancellor Dr. John Senyonyi told the team.
 
"We have 19 trophies in our cabin this year, but those are not enough. Go win us more," Senyonyi stressed before handing over the university flag to team captains Timothy Luyirika (Men) and Ruth Aturo (women).
 
Citing FUFA women football MVP Ruth Aturo, the 2014 Nile Special USPA Sports Personality of the year Peace Proscovia and rugby star Philip Wokorach and basketball legend Jimmy Enabu, Senyonyi urged athletes to be disciplined, work hard and be able to step into the trio's shoes.
 
"We have produced stars and we want you to join them.UCU will continue to offer sports scholarships as we build this nation and use these opportunities to position yourself well," the VC stressed.
 
The Director Student Affairs Olive Ayo said  UCU will continue to use sports to give students opportunities to develop their talents and careers.
 
UCU will participate in soccer, badminton, basketball, scrabble, swimming, Woodball, volleyball, tennis and athletics.
 
Nine Ugandan teams including Kyambogo, Busitema, Kampala University, Bishop Stuart, MUBS, Makerere, Mbarara University of Science and Technology and defending champions Ndejje will represent the country in the regional event.
