Choristers association pulls off impressive Christmas concert

The day-long music festival was graced by hundreds of sacred music lovers, from various parts of the country.
FESTIVE SEASON
Holy Trinity Choir of Kamwokya Catholic parish are the champions of this year's Church music competition of the Choristers Association of Uganda.
They were declared during the organisation's 5th annual Christmas festival at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala on Sunday. The Kamwokya choristers won with 243 points.
Saint Dennis choir from Ggaba Catholic parish took second position with 237points. It was followed by Good Samaritan Choir (Bujumbura Cathedral, Hoima), who got 228 points.
Other choirs that performed impressively and got presents included Arch-Angels Choir (Kasana-Luweero diocese), St Cecilia Virika Cathedral Choir, St Cecilia Kiyinda-Mityana Cathedral Choir, Saint Dennis Choir of Mbarara Archdiocese, St Joseph's Naggalama parish choir, Mumbagane parish choir (Fort Portal) and Spiritual Inspirations Choir from Nabbingo Catholic Church.
The day-long music festival was graced by hundreds of sacred music lovers, from various parts of the country. The President of the Uganda National Council of the Laity, who is also the Deputy CEO of Vision Group Gervase Ndyanabo, was among the high-profile people that graced the function.
Delivering his remarks before handing over trophies and accolades to the best performing choirs, the Centenary Bank General Manager, Finance, Godfrey Byekwaso, thanked the founding leaders and stakeholders of the Choristers Association for championing unity and development of Church music. He reassured members of the association that the Bank would continue to support the activities of the association.
The Chairman of the association, Thaddeus Sserukeera and the Coordinator, Justine Nabbaale thanked sponsoring companies like Centenary Bank, Pepsi Cola, Bank of Uganda, Statewide Insurance Company, Miika Eco Resort, Garden Tea, MTK and Cavendish University for sustaining the activities of the organisation.
The musical function also featured non-competing ensembles like Mugwanya Preparatory School Kabojja, Saint Mbaaga's Major Seminary, Pan-African Choir, Caltec Academy Makerere and the Quintet Band, which further to sacred music also performed some secular songs.
