President Museveni urged the AUC Chairperson Moussa Faki to push for the ideological concept side for the continent to develop.

President Yoweri Museveni has today met the Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki who called on him at his residency at the Mount Meru Hotel in Arusha, Tanzania.

The two leaders discussed various issues including the security situation in Burundi, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo etc.

The meeting came shortly after President Yoweri Museveni as Chairman of the EAC announced the postponement of the 20th Ordinary summit of the EAC Heads of State due to the absence of Burundi.

President Museveni briefed the AUC chairman about the postponed summit and said they agreed to push it to 27th of December.

"We have postponed the meeting until the 27th of December. The treaty says everybody must be present. The meeting is held once every year to allow everyone to attend," he said.

According to rule 11 of the rules of procedure of the summit of the EAC Heads of State, quorum is made up of all partner states representation which is in consonance with the decision making by consensus under article 12 of the treaty.

President Museveni urged the AUC Chairperson Moussa Faki to push for the ideological concept side for the continent to develop.

"Africa has a problem which is ideological and strategic. In the modern world, people need two important things; security and prosperity. This allows production and consumption of goods and services. I support CFTA because it supports production," he said.

Moussa Faki, commended Museveni for his support of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) that creates a single continental market for goods and services, with free movement of business persons and investments.

He urged him not to give up on the Burundi peace process saying it is a major concern for the region.
